Few places in India are at once so traveller-friendly and yet so enchanting and hassle-free as mountain-framed Leh. Crossing over the mighty Kunzum La pass situated at a height of 4452 meters and paying our obeisance to the revered Kunzum Mata Shrine, we gradually descend into the awesome Spiti Valley. Situated near the the borders of Tibet, Spiti is basically a cold desert mountain valley located high amidst the Himalaya mountains in the northeastern part of Himachal Pradesh. The name "Spiti" signifies "The Middle Land", i.e. the land between India and Tibet.
In fact, this region is one of the least populated regions in India. People are mainly Buddhist and Spiti Valley is dotted by many an ancient Buddhist monastery or gompas.Affinity to the ever closer Tibet region is very vivid be it the simple lifestyle or the culture followed by these hardy mountain people.

According to Hindu mythology, Chandratal is the place where Indra, the King of Gods, came down on his chariot to transport Yudhishthira, eldest of the five Pandavas, in his mortal form to Swarga (heaven). The mighty river of Beas, also known as Arjikuja of the Vedas, or Vipasa to the ancient Indians, and the Hyphasis to the Ancient Greeks rises from the middle of Himalayas in Himachal Pradesh and flows into the river Sutlej in Punjab. It is said that Beas is a misnomer for Vyasa and is named after Veda Vyasa, the presiding patron of the river; he is said to have created it from its source lake, the Vyas Kund also known as the Beas Kund. Beas Kund is where the river Beas originates from and offer spectacular views of the nearby located Shitidhar, Ladakhi, Friendship and Hanuman Tibba peaks.

Forests, meadows, quaint villages, or snow-covered mountains, this trail offers a gamut of experiences to trekkers. Sar Pass trek offers an opportunity to enjoy the exquisite beauty of Parvati valley with Kasol, Nagaru, Biskeri and Manikaran as its beauty spots. Kasol is famous for its coll and pleasant climate with tall pine trees.

This is a very scenic, summer high-altitude trek. Starting from the Prini road head, the trek winds through lush green valleys, hanging glaciers, log bridges, high-altitude meadows and dazzling landscapes. To keep you company, are the peaks of the region - Indrasan, Inderkilla and Hanuman Tibba. For the shutterbugs, the trek provides an ideal opportunity to go berserk. Leaving the Manali valley, the trek proceeds through evergreen cool forests of walnut, oak and the occasional alder. The view of the entire Kullu valley that is glimpsed all along the trail is excellent. Once atop the Hamta Pass (4270m), another spectacular panorama of peaks appears, but this time in the stark Lahaul valley.

Kheerganga lies in the extreme end of Parvati valley and the last inhibited village while trekking to pin valley via Pin-Parvati pass. Kheerganga remains snow-covered during winters and only get temporary settlement during summers. Kheerganga is a holy place with a hot water spring, small temple of Lord Shiva and a bathing tank. It make a rare combination for any trekker to bath in hot spring water when everything is covered by snow.

It is accessible by road and at a distance of around 40 kms from Kasol. The Tosh Nallah meets the Pārbati River at Pulga coming from the North. At the head of the valley is the Tosh Glacier surrounded by some well-known peaks: Papsura (6451m) & White Sail (6446m).

Bijli Mahadev trek is an easy trek to the Bijli Mahadev Temple. The temple is a ‘Kash’ style temple that has a “Shiva-Lingam”. Bijli Mahadev temple is situated is called Mathan and is surrounded by Parbati, Garsa, Bhunter and Kullu valleys, 14 KM from Kullu. A beautiful coniferous trail leads to this Shiva temple on top of a picturesque hill. There is a small village just down below the temple and the name of the village is also called Bijli Mahadev.
